The Artist

Elizabeth O’Leary Perkins

Hello, I’m Elizabeth.

As a child, I fell in love with a story about the transformative magic of a garden. My enjoyment of reading led me to pursue a degree in English Literature and then to train as a teacher to share my passion. However, my love for flowers and the powers of the imagination never faded. In 2016 I retrained as a florist at one of the UK’s leading flower schools in Knightsbridge under the esteemed florist Judith Blacklock.

I am deeply passionate about the British flower movement and seasonal and sustainable floristry. I’m fortunate to have flower farms local to my studio and I also grow my own flowers. This provides me with inspiring opportunities to become familiar with varieties; their unique characteristics, their scent, their colours and their shapes.

It is impossible to have a favourite flower, however, I cannot walk past an old fashioned garden rose; dusky pink, full bloom, delicately scented and gloriously romantic.

In my floristry, I strive to capture the same enchanting magic that The Secret Garden had on me — a touch of wonder in every arrangement.

‘Our Dickon could make a flower grow out of a brick wall. Mother says he just whispers things o’ th’ ground.’
